Julia Chapdelaine Memorial Scholarship

Julia was a graduate of Shepherd Hill Regional High School Class of 2019. She spread love, acceptance, and joy to all that surrounded her. Julia was the friend that everyone wanted to have. She worked hard for her achievements and was looking forward to starting her next chapter before she lost her life in a tragic car accident on November 29, 2023.

The Julia Chapdelaine Memorial Scholarship has been established to honor Julia’s beautiful life, her love of Show Choir, her goal to be the best version of herself, and the desire to love and support all equally.

Applicants for this scholarship are members of the Shepherd Hill Show Choir who are graduating and moving on to a college education. The recipient will be awarded $2,500 in Julia’s memory. The ideal candidate will be a great example of love, acceptance, hard work, and the desire to support and appreciate others.

Chloe Graves

"My name is Chloe Graves and I am the first recipient of the Julia Chapdelaine Memorial Scholarship. I attended Shepherd Hill Regional High School where I was part of many clubs and activities. Some of these activities include Student Council President, National Honor Society, Varsity Volleyball, and both of the Show Choirs at Shepherd Hill. Show Choir has always been a huge part of my life as I started in middle school. Being a part of Fantasy and Illusion in high school meant so much to me and I know it meant so much to Julia as well. It brings me joy to know that we shared a passion for music. I am extremely thankful to have received this scholarship as it has helped me further my education at the University of Connecticut! I am majoring in Elementary Education as I am striving to have my own classroom someday. I am eager to help students learn in the future. This scholarship is helping me follow my dreams, thank you."

The Jules Foundation Scholarship at University of New England

The Jules Foundation has partnered with the University of New England to establish The Jules Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship, in memory of Julia Brooke Chapdelaine ‘24, is to support a meritorious Public Health undergraduate or graduate student participating in the Ghana Immersion in Health Care program.

The Ghana Health Mission began in 1996 at the University of Massachusetts, and it was brought to the University of New England in 2008. Since then, UNE, the Ghana Health Service, the University of Cape Coast, and several US-based health organizations have all partnered in this movement. Participants include interprofessional teams of students and faculty who collaborate and engage in direct health services, community education, and cross-cultural exchange in the twin cities of Sekondi and Takoradi, Ghana, West Africa.

We are thrilled to have initiated this partnership and look forward to awarding our first The Jules Foundation Scholarship with UNE in the Spring of 2026.
